Science Quiz - Friday, September 20th

Our first science quiz will be this Friday, September 20th and will include material you have learned in class since the first day of school.  This will NOT be an open notebook quiz. 

Topics include: Lab Safety, Metric Measurement, Scientific Method, and the Microscope. 

General Study Guide: 

1. Lab Safety

Examples:

-Protecting your eyes, skin, hair, clothing

-Always follow teacher instructions during labs and during cleanup

-Let your teacher know about safety concerns 

-No horseplay in the science lab

2. Metric Measurement 

Examples:

-Be ready to use a metric ruler to determine the length of an object or line, or accurately create a line to a specific length

-Be ready to convert from cm to mm, or mm to cm

Remember:  to convert from cm to mm, multiply the cm length by ten

                       to convert from mm to cm, divide the mm length by ten

3. Scientific Method

Examples:

-Study the steps of Scientific Method, in the correct order

-Know the all of the vocabulary terms involved in scientific experiments

4.  Microscope
Examples:
-Know the parts of the Compound Microscope and their functions
-Know the steps to follow to use a microscope to bring a specimen into focus
