First Day of Fall: Autumnal Equinox 2013

Thought I would share this link with you as we all welcome the new season and experience one of the important astronomy dates on our yearly calendar, the Autumnal Equinox.

There are two equinox dates each year.  One takes place in the spring and the other is in the fall.  On each of these dates the sun passes directly over the equator which causes equal amounts of daylight (about 12 hours) and nighttime (about 12 hours).
